Now those of you who have been watching me a long time.
I have very sad news.
Those that have heard of it, there is a virus going around in rats called Seoul Virus. it can be spread to humans. I had my rats tested because the Canada breeder I received 4 rats from was positive. I got my results today. I had 15 rats tested. ALL NEGATIVE except 1. The only one that was positive to the virus was Tsunami, the cinnamon girl from Canada. Which leads to my heart breaking news.
All rats in my home are to be euthanized. I do not have a say. I have four rats off site (at a family members home), which aren't required to be euthanized but the rest of my rattery is. So yes I am heart broken. Yes im hurting. No there is no way around it. No I wont be giving up, once Ive been given the go ahead I will be restarting my rattery. I will have only my martens to work with since the rest are being euthanized. I will get more to add to my line in the future but for now this is all I will have. I am devastated.
This virus is spreading and I did my part in getting tested for it. I wish I was able to get all negatives. But things took a wrong turn. So please be patient with me. I will be updating this account when I can. and I will try to be more active once I get to breeding again. October November will be my timeframe. The rats will be euthanized within the month. I don't know what I am going to do. Losing them all. Losing my line I started in ND losing my line I have been working on since I moved down to GA. It hurts.
